Greater Houston Partnership to host Texas commissioner of education
The Texas commissioner of education, Michael Williams, will be speaking from 3-4 p.m. Jan. 8 at the GHP Board Room, located at 1200 Smith, Suite 700, Houston.
The commissioner will be discussing the role of the Texas Education Agency and the opportunities and challenges for public education in the upcoming 2013 legislative session.
Williams was appointed as Texas commissioner of education by Governor Rick Perry on Sept. 1. He now heads the Texas Education Agency, which oversees the education of five million students in public and charter schools across Texas. This includes pre-kindergarten through high school and basic adult education.
This event if for members of the Greater Houston Partnership only. There is no cost to attend, but guests must register online at www.events.houston.org.
