Houston ISD to hold information session for aspiring principals
The Houston Independent School District will hold a workshop for aspiring school principals at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center in Houston.
The program is a partnership between HISD and the University of Houston and was created to offer potential leaders a route to a master's degree in education with a focus on turnaround leadership, according to a district press release.
Graduates of this one-year program will gain expertise in business, education and management to lead successful urban schools. The course will also enable participants to obtain principal certification in the state of Texas.
The first class will begin in the summer of 2013 and will be led by instructors of UH, HISD and other experts in the field of education.
The Mattie Mae White Educational Support Center is located at 440 W. 18th St., Houston. The information session will be held in the cafeteria.
