Menil Collection to host pop public art symposium Nov. 12
Pop and Public Art, sponsored by Menil Collection, will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at Menil Collection in Houston.
According to a press release, the goals of the symposium are to address public art created by pop artists and to suggest new ways to think about it through the themes of pop criticism.
Speakers will include Lisa Freiman, senior curator and chair of the Department of Contemporary Art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art; Tom Eccles, executive director of the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and former director of the Public Art Fund; and Benjamin Buchloh, Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Modern Art at Harvard University.
Tickets are not required and the event is free.
The Menil Collection is located at 1515 Sul Ross, Houston.
