High school football preview: Sterling at Yates

The Yates Lions will host the Sterling Raiders in a 3A Region III District 23 varsity football game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

Yates is 1-2 (0-0 in conference play) on the season, falling to the Madison Marlins 35-0 at home Sept. 14.

In that game, Yates' Joshua Simmons threw for 58 yards.

Ronald Miller is the coach of the Lions.

Sterling is 0-2 (0-0 in conference play) on the season, losing 49-6 on the road to the Navasota Rattlers Sept. 14.

In that game, Sterling's Ja'Quan McKnight Jr. threw for 53 yards.

Eddie Chinea is the coach of the Raiders.

Next, Yates will go on the road and play the Scarborough Spartans 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.
