Archway Gallery features 'Umbrian Landscapes' by artist Sylvia Cameron
Artist Sylvia Cameron will be in attendance at the exhibit opening reception from 5-8 p.m. April 14 at Archway Gallery, 2305 Dunlavy, Houston.
The "Umbrian Landscapes" series will be at Archway Gallery from Saturday, April 7 to May 3. This collection features landscapes of Umbria, Italy, which were painted by Cameron. Cameron captured villas, towns and architecture during three separate trips to the area. According to the press release, Cameron stated: "I think it is the light and shadows that so captivated me. I enjoy trying to get the details as close to reality as I can."
The artist's technique works toward progressively layering shadows and colors. Cameron includes details to give her subjects more realistic character.
A longtime resident of The Woodlands, Cameron is interested in the world around her. Her art education certificate is from the University of Houston, and her master's in art education is from Sam Houston State University.
Cameron spent time teaching previously and pursued many types of art including pottery, watercolor and photography. While in Umbria, Italy, she attended workshops available at La Romeda Art School. She is currently showing work at The Garden of the Dragonfly in Old Town Spring and at Archway Gallery in Houston.
