HSPVA to hold spring dance concert
See the rising stars of tomorrow when the High School for Performing and Visual Arts' dance department presents its Concert Dancers in the school's spring dance concert at 7:30 p.m. March 8 and March 9 in the Denney Theatre, at 4001 Stanford St., in Houston.
The concert will feature contemporary ballet, jazz and modern dance choreographed by the HSPVA dance faculty and choreographic works by HSPVA dance graduate and Helen Hayes Award recipient Parker Esse, who is the Bachelor of Fine Arts dance chair at the University of Texas. The concert also will feature choreography by David Justin and Thang Dao, who are the choreographer and artistic director of the Thang Dao Dance Company, in New York City.
The Concert Dancers, under the direction of LuAnne Carter, have appeared on numerous university campuses and have toured the United States, England, Scotland and China, as well as appearing locally at national conventions and trade shows.
The company is currently performing on the Young Audiences of Houston roster.
"HSPVA has added luster to the image of Houston as a city where the arts flourish. Here is your chance to see the rising stars of tomorrow," said former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier.
